A School in Canada Attempts to Cancel Mother’s Day 加國一所小學計畫取消母親節活動 Cathy and Duncan are coworkers. They are chatting. 凱西跟鄧肯是同事，他們在聊天。 Duncan: I saw the pictures on your Instagram account. That’s a beautiful building. Where did you go last weekend? 鄧肯：我看到你Instagram上面的照片了，那房子真美，你上週末去哪裡啊？ Cathy: That’s a restaurant. I took my family there to celebrate Mother’s Day. 凱西：那是一間餐廳，我帶我的家人去那邊慶祝母親節。 Duncan: Oh, speaking of Mother’s Day, I read an interesting article I want to tell you about. You were a teacher before, right? 鄧肯：說到母親節，我之前讀到一篇有趣的文章，我想跟你說。你以前是老師對嗎？ Cathy: Yeah, I used to work as an elementary school teacher. 凱西：是啊，我以前是國小老師。 Duncan: An elementary school in Canada wants to cancel Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Students won’t make gifts at school. They will encourage those celebrations to take place at home. 鄧肯：一間在加拿大的小學想取消母親節跟父親節，學生不會在學校製作禮物，他們鼓勵學生可以在家慶祝就好。 Cathy: Why? 凱西：為什麼？ Duncan: The school said some of their students are from non-traditional families. 鄧肯：學校說因為有些學生是來自非傳統家庭。 Cathy: Wow, some parents must be upset about the decision and its reason.
