Is Office Romance a Good Idea? 辦公室戀情到底好不好？ Betty and Nancy are coworkers. They are chatting during a lunch break. 貝蒂和南西是同事。他們在午休時聊天。 Betty: Hey, Nancy, do you know that Ben and Lora are dating each other. I chanced to see them dating on Valentine’s Day. I was so surprised! 貝蒂：嘿，南西，你知道班和蘿拉在交往嗎？我碰巧在情人節的時候看到他們在約會，我超驚訝的！ Nancy: Well, obviously there’s a very real chemistry between them. They work pretty closely together on a lot of projects. It’s not surprising that they’ve gotten into a relationship. 南西：嗯，顯然他們之間真的擦出了愛的火花。他們密切合作了很多企劃案。他們會發展出戀情並不令人驚訝。 Betty: Yeah, I guess you’re right. We spend about half of our life at work. We get to know our colleagues better than the people we see in many other settings. Do you think dating someone you work with is a good idea? 貝蒂：是啊，我想你說的沒錯。我們生活有一半的時間都在工作。比起在許多其他場合遇見的人，我們比較瞭解我們的同事。你覺得和同事約會是件好事嗎？ Nancy: Yeah, definitely, I think it’s safer to find a partner in the workplace. It’s better than seeing someone you met at a pub. I guess the work environment allows you to get to know the person before committing to a relationship. 南西：是啊，當然，我覺得在職場找另一半比較安全，比起和在酒吧遇見的人約會來得好。我想職場能夠讓你在投入一段關係前先瞭解對方。 Betty : Totally agree. I guess their relationship may be good for our team. The relationship might energize them to work even harder and motivate them to work even more. 貝蒂：完全同意。我想他們的戀情對我們團隊來說是件好事。談戀愛可能會讓他們活力充沛而更努力工作，激勵他們接下更多的工作。 Nancy: Yeah, I guess they will try to impress their partner at work, especially when they just started dating each other. A little office intrigue that keeps people interested in work can absolutely be a good thing. 南西：沒錯，我猜他們會在工作時試著給對方留下好印象，特別是在他們剛開始交往的時候。讓人投入工作的辦公室地下戀情絕對是件好事。 Betty: Well, let’s hope they won’t be too distracted if things don’t work out. I personally don’t want to see any drama in the office. 貝蒂：嗯，希望如果戀情發展不順，他們不會太心煩意亂啊。我個人不希望在辦公室看到任何的戲劇化場面。 Nancy: I hope their relationship will last. After all, it’s not fun to see your ex at the same office. 南西：我希望他們的戀情能夠持久。畢竟，在同一間辦公室裡面看到前任情人滿尷尬的。 |
