或許你已經注意到了,幾乎所有台灣人都在狂用手機 - - 無時無刻!
(Perhaps you've noticed that almost everyone here in Taiwan uses their smartphones like...ALL the time.)

你想想,你會不會時不時就檢查Line的訊息或是刷facebook更新動態,不管何時何地?
(Think about it, do you check your LINE messages and facebook updates anytime, anywhere within minutes?)

好啦!我承認…這就是在說我自己!
(OK, guilty! Maybe it's just me lol!)

在中文裡有個流行用語拿來形容人對手機上癮了,也就是「低頭族」
字面上的翻譯就是一群低著頭的人。
(Anyway, in Chinese, there's a very popular term that we use to describe people who are addicted to smartphones; 'ditouzu', which literally translates to "a group of people with their heads bowed down.")

有趣的是,我曾經聽過一些中式英文把低頭族直接翻譯成「低頭(bow heads)」或是「在鞠躬的人(people bowing)」。
(So interestingly, I've heard some Chinglish expressions that translated 'ditoutzu' as " bow heads or people bowing.")

這個說法更好的翻譯是「手機成癮者」,不過有人在2013年造出了一個更酷的字,坦白說我覺得這個字聽起來比「手機成癮者」好多了。
(A much better way of translating this expression would be "Smartphone addicts." But listen to this, an even cooler word was coined in 2013 and to be honest, I love the sound of it better than the phrase "Smartphone addict".)

這個字叫做「phubber」,它結合了「電話(phone)」和「冷落他人的人(snubber)」,也就是「看著電話而不注意旁人的人」。
(It's the word "phubber," which is a combination of the words "phone" and "snubber"; in other words, someone looking at their phone instead of paying attention to whoever they are with.)

好啦,希望你們喜歡今天的影片。想學更多更酷的單字和說法嗎?
