Owner Fined $50,000 For Pet Abandonment 飼主棄養寵物被罰5萬塊錢 Alice and Anthony are walking their dogs. 愛麗絲跟安東尼正在遛他們養的狗狗們。 Alice: We pamper our dogs so much. I wonder if they can survive on their own. 愛麗絲：我們太寵溺我們的狗狗了。我不知道他們能不能靠自己生存下去。 Anthony: You’d better not test it out. Someone got fined 50 thousand dollars for pet abandonment. 安東尼：你最好別測試看看這行不行得通喔。有人因為棄養寵物而被罰了5萬塊錢。 Alice: I’m not going to abandon my dog. That’s terrible! I was just wondering. 愛麗絲：我才不會棄養我的狗呢。那也太糟糕了！我只是好奇而已啦。 Anthony: Yeah, you must be a terrible person to throw your dog away. 安東尼：對啊，一定是很糟糕的人才會棄養自己的狗。 Alice: So what happened? Did the owner just get sick of having a pet? 愛麗絲：那到底發生什麼事？是那個主人對養寵物這件事感到厭煩了嗎？ Anthony: Maybe. The dog had also grown old and was suffering from skin and eye problems. 安東尼：或許吧。狗狗年紀大了，受到皮膚病跟眼睛毛病之苦。 Alice: Poor thing. I hope it ended up ok. 愛麗絲：可憐的小東西。希望他最後有好的結局。 Anthony: They found another owner for the dog, but they slapped the original owner with such a heavy fine because he or she simply wouldn’t show up to deal with it. 安東尼：他們幫那隻狗找到了別的主人，前飼主被處以鉅額罰金，因為那人就是不肯出來面對。 Alice: To be honest, I think 50 thousand is not enough. That’s a living thing you’re abandoning! 愛麗絲：坦白說，我覺得5萬元不夠耶。被丟棄的可是活生生的生命！ Anthony: I have to agree. 50 thousand for that level of cruelty really is quite light. 安東尼：我不得不同意。這種程度的殘忍行為只罰5萬元太少了。 |
