What Type of Occupation Do Taiwanese Kids Want When They Grow up? 台灣小孩心目中的理想職業是？ Anna and Tiffany live in the same neighborhood. 安娜跟蒂芬妮住在同個社區。 Anna: Hello Tiffany, is your daughter in fifth grade now? 安娜：嗨，蒂芬妮，妳女兒現在讀五年級了？ Tiffany: She will be this September. And, your son is a third grader? 蒂芬妮：她今年九月會升五年級。那，妳兒子現在是三年級？ Anna: Yup. You have a very good memory. 安娜：是啊，妳記性真好。 Tiffany: Thanks. I just remembered that my daughter is one year older than your son. 蒂芬妮：謝啦，我只是記得我女兒比妳兒子大一歲。 Anna: Oh, my son is still pretty childish. I asked him that what he wants to be when he grows up, and he said he wants to be an astronaut. How crazy! I blamed my husband for watching too many sci-fi movies with him. 安娜：哦，我兒子還很幼稚。我問他長大想當什麼，他說他想當太空人。真瘋狂！我怪我老公帶著兒子一起看太多科幻電影了。 Tiffany: Well, I don’t think that’s bad. Childhood is a time to dream big. Not like my daughter, she just wants to be a teacher. Of course I’m not saying being a teacher is bad, but it’s too ordinary just like many other Asian children. 蒂芬妮：嗯，我不覺得那是件壞事耶，童年該是個做大夢的時期。不像我女兒，她只想當老師。當然我不是說當老師不好，只是那太普通了，就跟大多數其他的亞洲兒童一樣。 Anna: Oh? Sounds like there is a survey on this? 安娜：哦？聽起來有這方面的調查？ Tiffany: Yeah, a survey of children between the ages of 7 and 14 in seven Asian countries shows that teachers and doctors are the most popular occupations. 蒂芬妮：是啊，有個調查針對亞洲七個國家7到14歲的兒童，結果顯示老師及醫生是最受歡迎的職業。 Anna: That’s not surprising. What’s the third one? Singers? Actors? 安娜：不令人意外啊。第三名是什麼？歌星？演員？ Tiffany: You guessed it right. 蒂芬妮：妳猜對了。 |
