● Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL): Approaches to Teaching in Higher Education 【本課程由昆士蘭大學設計規劃。
授課講師均取得授課資格。
】 CLIL是描述教學方法的術語,以透過非母語語言(英語)來教授和研究該主題。
CLIL教學法的最佳實踐是涉及來自不同教育背景下,用第二語言學習該課程主題。
CLIL is a term to describe an approach to teaching and learning where subjects are taught and studied through the medium of a non-native language, such as English. In CLIL, learning a curricular subject in a second language involves best practice from a range of different educational contexts. 本期CLIL課程乃針對大學以上的教育,概述了在大專教學環境中的CLIL方法論。
著重於通過主動學習策略吸引學習者。
該計劃包含實用的教學技巧和策略的發展,進而提高學習者的參與度。
這些理念均是很容易融入現行高等教育環境中。
Our Approaches to Teaching in Higher Ed program provides an overview of CLIL methodology in tertiary settings with a strong focus on engaging learners through active learning. The program promotes the development of practical teaching skills and strategies for increasing learner engagement, which are easily integrated into higher education contexts. 【總時數Course Length】本課程總時數20小時,維期5日密集課程。
The program involves completing a series of 10 x 2-hour workshops over 5 days (20 hours). 【本證照課程重點Content Aims】了解CLIL內涵及活動設計方法,並實際運用在您教學的學科上。
During the classes, you are going • Identify the theory and practice that underpin key principles of Active Learning in tertiary contexts • Experience, analyse and apply activities that employ the principles of Active Learning to one’s own resources • Explore the methodology central to the CLIL approach as a means to support learners’ cognitive and linguistic development in the content classroom • Develop skills for engaging learners via adapting texts for lecture purposes and incorporating learning-centred, collaborative tasks. 【課程內容】 Supporting development of student’s language and thinking skills In this session, participants will: • share current challenges and opportunities in their own teaching and learning environment in discussion activities • experience an interactive, micro-lecture about the relationship between language and cognition (thinking) • review a conceptual framework designed to assist educators to select materials and plan lectures to balance language and thinking skills Focus on Active Learning: Activities for the Classroom, In this series of sessions, participants will: • Experience and critically evaluate a range of communicative activities relevant to delivering content in Higher Education • Participate in demonstration tasks designed to actively involve learners in learning or reviewing new content • Prepare, set up and co-teach one activity (materials provided) to promote active learning and receive feedback from peers and tutors Strategies for Adapting Texts for Lecturing Purposes, In this series of sessions, participants will: • Experience two different lecture delivery styles focused on the topic of ‘Content and Language Integrated Learning’ • Identify and compare elements of effective lectures incorporating active learning principles • Prepare and deliver a micro-lecture, adapting participants’ own lecture materials, and receive peer and tutor feedback Strategies for Learner Engagement – Managing Large Classes In this session, participants will: • explore concepts of learner engagement by engaging in a series of text-based activities • review scenarios to identify effective teaching strategies for managing large classes • reflect on the applicability of the approaches presented for participants’ own teaching context Strategies for Learner Engagement – Digital Student Response Tools In this session, participants will: • engage in sample activities using a series of education apps to collect student responses during lectures • review the features of a selected app tool and share their findings with peers (group work) • reflect on the applicability of the applications presented for participants’ own teaching context Program Reflection – Tips for Success In this session, participants will: • participate in activities to reflect on their learning experience during the CLIL program • identify ‘tips for success’ and continuing professional development opportunities • complete a course evaluation to share feedback on the program aims and participant experience (online) • receive an official certificate from ICTE to celebrate course completion (certificate ceremony) 【取得證照資格Assessment and Certification 】 出席率須達80%以上,並積極參與課程討論。
可獲得昆士蘭大學英語教學推廣課程所頒發的"證書” Each participant will receive a Certificates of Attendance issued by the Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education, University of Queensland at the completion of the program on the final day.
